The glamorous couple spent time mingling with His Majesty, along with the winners and supporters who gathered for the latest celebration at the palace.
George and Amal Clooney were among the guests at Buckingham Palace on June 25 to celebrate the winners of The King’s Trust Awards 2025. Photos from the event have sparked online debate, with some fans accusing the couple of showing a lack of respect toward King Charles III, and by extension, the British crown.

A short clip captured Amal and George shaking hands with King Charles as they exchanged light laughter and engaged in conversation.
George, 64, wore a grey suit without a tie, while Amal, 47, looked elegant in a black, off-the-shoulder dress. Meanwhile, Charles was dressed in a blue suit complete with a tie and matching lapel.
During the reception, George and Amal joined the monarch in mingling with the award winners and other supporters. The King moved around the room, chatting and laughing with guests before cutting a cake.
A group photo was later taken, capturing George, Amal, Charles, the winners, and other attendees smiling and sharing cheerful moments. The image reflected the celebratory spirit of the evening, with relaxed poses and warm expressions all around.

Despite the lighthearted atmosphere, fans remained focused on Amal and George’s attire and body language. Their choice of clothing, particularly George Clooney’s sparked a wave of reactions online.

One critic didn’t hold back when reacting to George’s appearance, “Clooney is not dressed properly and has no manners or respect. The Queen would have put him in his place.”

Another observer had some advice for both Clooneys, writing, “George Clooney, uncross your arms and don’t you own a tie?! Show respect, and Amal learn to stand straight when talking to the King!”

One person pointed out, “A little disrespectful not wearing a tie and folding his arms,” and another asked bluntly, “George, where’s your tie???” Surprise turned into disapproval for this viewer who wrote, “Standing in front of the King of England with your hands crossed is wild😮.”
