What began as a romantic honeymoon in the misty hills of Shillong turned into a chilling tale of betrayal and murder.
On May 20, businessman Raja Raghuvanshi arrived in the scenic city with his new bride, Sonam Raghuvanshi, ready to start a new chapter in life. Just days later, he was found dead—his body abandoned and decomposing in a remote canyon, stripped of all identification and even his wedding ring.
At first, investigators believed Raj Kushwaha, Sonam’s suspected lover, might be responsible. But what they uncovered next was far more sinister: the orchestrator of the murder was none other than Sonam herself.
Driven by greed and deception, Sonam allegedly lured Raj with promises of love and manipulated him into joining her deadly scheme. Alongside three hired accomplices—Vishal Singh, Anand Kurmi, and Akash Rajput—she plotted Raja’s murder in cold blood, offering financial rewards in exchange for his life.
Using location tracking, Sonam pinpointed Raja’s movements, leading the killers to him. Sometime between May 23 and 24, he was ambushed and pushed into the gorge, left to die in silence.
But the web of lies didn’t end there. Raj returned to Indore, believing he and Sonam would finally be together. Instead, he found betrayal once again—Sonam was secretly involved with a third man and allegedly planned to have Raj eliminated next.
